It's not a blog, it's a feature

I was faced with problems with the actual version of OpenMHP 1.0.4 (the free open source project for application development based on DVB-MHP).

There was no TV screen visible and I fixed the problem with adjusting the openmhp.properties in the openmhp/static directory.

The solution was to add the following line:
additional_classpath=d\:\\programme\\MHP\\openmhp
You have to insert the path to your ophenmhp installation and everything will work fine!

I found a very useful link for every Window$ Java programmer:

The one who called Windows 98 an operating system (Bill Gates?) should be punished with using it the rest of his life. This weekend I had the "honor" to set up a PC using Windows 98 - no newer Windows will work on this PC.

A few examples for my annoyance:
- When copying files from a CD to the harddisk the system sets the file-properties as "write-protected". If you want to edit these files an error message appears.
- Copying an executable file like usual with Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V makes a link to this file instead of copying the file.
- The blue screen "Das System ist ausgelastet" followed by a reboot, caused by the impotence of the task manager to kill blocking applications.
... the list could be continued nearly endlessly

Refering to Danis Weblog entry a comparison in german:

Keiner - beides sind voellig ueberschaetzte Auslaufmodelle, schaffen keine ordentlichen Ergebnisse und gehoeren eigentlich schon lange ausgemustert.

just an experience richer: I did not know, a PC needs a separate DVD encoder to watch DVD movies over your dvd-rom. My opinion was that with every commom media player (like BS Player, WinAmp, ... if you want it: Windows media player) such a codec is part of. No chance, for example media player from Micro$oft links to a side where you can BUY such a codec.

After intensive research in the WWW I found a free DVD encoder from Fraunhofer - here is the link to it: FreeDVD: Fraunhofer DVD Video and Audio Codec.
Use it - it works really fine and is for FREE!!!

I decided to buy a TFT screen for my PC. After long and intensive research in the web I decided to buy the EIZO FlexScan S1910:

... and I'm really happy with my decision and can't believe that I was able to work so long with an old monitor. TFT displays can be really brilliant nowadays, the luminosity, the sharpness and how still the screen picture stands is really astonishing.

I can recommend everybody who sits quite a long time in front of his PC to invest in a TFT display - it is worth every cent.
