A Glance on Windows Vista
I just wanted to experience the "WOW-Effect"! And I had this chance by setting up the new notebook of my uncle with Windows Vista:
- The installation works without a problem
- Making the most important settings too
- Installing a freeware virus scanner was the first challenge for me: First to find one which is suitable for Vista. Managed this with AVG - but then I was not able to install the program in the directory I wanted to. Many tries like executing as administrator, creating the directory by the help of the explorer and granting all rights on it, ... did not work and so I had no chance but to install it in the suggested directory.
- I think that there are to many warnings displayed in pop-ups for a "normal" user in the usage of Vista. Maybe the users will be overextended and after many warnings just ignore them and click it without reading.
Now I'm really curious about using Windows Vista by my own: I bought a new DELL PC with Vista (I had no other choice) and will be able to explore Vista in daily usage with a new, modern PC and all gimmicks for private usage. I'm sure I will provide a report about my experiences here soon, so stay connected.
