Enjoying U2

This is my time: Sitting in front of my PC, working all time and enjoying the great music of U2.
Yeah, I'm a fan for over 10 years (since my father donated me the LP Rattle and Hum) and the new album How to dismantle an atomic bomb sounds really reasonable.

u2-how-to.jpg
For fans I recommend to buy the double Album CD/DVD where you get for a few Euros more about 45 minutes of documentary & video perfomances from the U2 HQ.

The music is great, soft rock-and-roll with positive, critical lyrics, the enthralling guitar play of The Edge and the unmatchable voice of Bono with the highlights Vertigo (the best Song in the last years), Sometimes you can't make it on your own (about Bonos dead father) and Crumbs from your table - but listen and decide yourself what you like best.

Starting the LP from the beginning once again ...

Rammstein live

This is Rammstein - the concert was great, it was the most bombastic event I've ever seen. My friends and I were jumping the whole concert, the result was pain two days long - but it was worth ...
By the way, it was unbelievable and I'm not able to describe it - go and see it by yourself!

In memory of Creed

Today is the perfect day to sit in front of the PC working on my master thesis and listening to music (beside of reading an exciting book ...) - and what is the best music for this day - CREED! I really love this kind of music: harmonic, powerful guitar play covered with this powerful but also soft vocals by Scott Stapp. I've got all 3 CDs and enjoy to listen to my favourite songs: Beautiful, Wosh away those tears, Say I, What if, Faceless Man, What's this life for, Freedom Fighter, ... - I don't know many bands where every song is that great.

It was a shock for me last year in June when Creed announced that the separation of their band is a hard fact - so my dream to watch a concert of Creed will never become true.

But maybe there is a last chance: I want to start an online petition for a last Creed concert in Austria - maybe if there are about 1 Millionen signs of real fans, we could convince them of playing a last concert in Austria.
Don't wait - sign my petition with a comment and we will meet at the concert ...

Depeche Mode Remixes 81...04

I've been Depeche Mode Fan for quite a long time, since my father presented me my first Depeche Mode cassette at the tender age of 14. So I was enthusiastic when I heard a song on FM4 from their new album: Remixes 81-04 (Limited Edition) - and I bought the CD.

This is the perfect music to listen to when I'm sitting in front of my PC programming for my diploma thesis - normally I'm not fan of that kind of electronical music (except The Prodigy), but with the voice of Dave Gahan I really love it. By the way, the songs get all new interesting life by this remixes.

Depeche Mode is back again ...

DepecheMode_PlayingTheAngel.jpg... the right snug music for the autumn in front of the PC with a hot cup of tea. Depeche Mode Playing the Angel is the new masterpiece of this famous band which I'm addicted to since I was a teenager and got my first cassette. The music is extravagant but also easy to listen - unbelievable but this two facts work together trouble-free.
Now I'm waiting for March and my visit to Graz for the Depeche Mode concert, I can't belive it - I WILL BE THERE AND ONE OF MY MUSIC DREAMS WILL BECOME TRUE !!!!!!!!

MY favourite songs on the album are: the hit suspected "Precious" - the first single in the tradition of Enjoy the Silence; the mysterious "Nothing S Impossible" - Dave Gahans melodic voice over a great keayboard arrangement; the smoothly "Lillian" - the catchy tune is running with repeat in my winamp.

Whats the matter with RAMMSTEIN?

I am really disappointed of the new album "Rosenrot". Every fan since the first album "Herzeleid" must think: "What shall I do with this commercial sh** - I don't like listening to MTV mainstream!"
Rammstein was since the beginning - with the great LP "Herzeleid" - a symbol for straight, hard industrial music with astonishing lyrics. Remember masterpieces like "Laichzeit", "Heirate mich" or "Du hast".
On the album "Reise, Reise" were a few slightly songs but also great ones. On this album nearly every song is without power and inspiration. It is shocking that at most the average songs "Benzin" and "Mann gegen Mann" are Rammstein like but the rest of the LP will cause the CD to get dusty in the shelf ...

Back to the roots boys or Rammstein will lose its authority for me!

Addicted to Muse

Muse was always a great band for me with exciting, dramatic songs best to listen on a high volume. But the new album Black Holes & Revelations is a huge step forward!

I must confess, I am addicted to it, the songs are all really great and I can listen to album once again, once again, once again, ... all evening long!

Muse LIVE
So the expectations for the live act at the frequency festival were huge but Muse fullfilled all of them and much more. It was impressing how beautiful and powerful the voice of Matthew Bellamy live is and how overpowering their performance is.

Elisabeth loved Muse too and she is surely not a fan of them. So we decided to go to Vienna for their next concert in december to enjoy them once again.

Sitting here - listening to the CD and thinking of the concert makes it, with this beginning autumn and darkness outside, a beautiful evening :)

Rock the Rockhouse

The weather is cold and wet - this is the right time to make party!! :)
If you don't know how, here is a hint: Go to the Rockhouse in Salzburg (a great concert location with cult factor) on the 10th of November and enjoy the "Punk is Dead"-Tour.
3 feet smaller is part of the line-up, an Austrian punk band which we liked very much at the frequency festival, believe me, they know how to rock the stage.

See you there, jumping and flipping out ...
By the way, the new album of 3 feet smaller - 3rd Strike is great and really worth to listen to!

Concert Summer

After Gravel Pit and Frequency Festival today we take part at Burg Clam Last Day Out Festival. Because there are many of my favourite bands, I'm really looking forward to rock with NOFX, 3 Feet Smaller, H-Blockx, Bloodhound Gang and Mad Caddies.

NOFX

So lets punk and rock :)

Addition to Frequency Festival - my favourite live concerts:
1. Billy Talent
2. Madsen
3. 3 Feet Smaller
4. Juliette and The Licks
5. Snow Patrol
6. 2Raumwohnung

A few thoughts about actual music

I really like guitar dominated music very much, because this kind of music can give me many power and energy.
So it is no wonder, that my actual favourite CD is from Alter Bridge - Blackbird. The band is formed from the fewer members of Creed (their album Human Clay is one of the best ever made) and a logical further development of their music style.

One band which is really worth a try Nightwish, they play melodic metal with great melodies and sounds. It was a shock for me when their singer Tarja was kicked out of the band, because her voice was the big difference to other bands. So I was waiting for their new album to listen to Nightwish with their new singer.
The result is like I supposed it to be - the music is really great, but the voice of the new singer is nice and striven, while Tarjas voice was bombastic: Nighwtish - Dark Passion Play

By the way: I listened to Austria Top 40, the Austrian charts, because I was interested what is fashionable and most bought nowadays. And I'm really shocked, the music is soulless and not worth listen too ... :/

Ban cell phones on metal concerts

I was wrong ... I believed that taking out the cell phone and making photos during a concert is a illness of the "Ö3-Generation". Two days ago I had to focus that also during metal concerts many people stopped the enthusiasm by just standing there and taking pictures. Come on, this is a metal concert - enjoy the music, the atmosphere and jump for the band.

Even the great In Flames singer asked the crowd to take down the cell phones and put up the hands to clap ("Looks better, sounds better") -> Shame on all of you ... :/
Maybe we should stand together and destroy all cell phones when they are used this way or somebody must invent some kind of jammer!

btw: Both concerts were really great, on Wednesday Volbeat had a great performance at the Rockhouse Salzburg and on Sunday In Flames was just bombastic.

Amon Amarth - Twilight of the Thunder God

Dauerbrenner: In Flames
